Sa Suffit

21-Nov-2009

I’m backing Sa Suffit here. He’s not a huge price, but he is still value in my book at 9/4. A nice progressive novice last spring, he ran a cracker on his final outing of the season to run an on-song Chief Dan George to three lengths over almost three miles at Kelso in March. He hasn’t been out since then, but he won his beginners’ chase on his first run last season, his first for over two years and his first in the UK, so he can go well fresh. He does have top weight today, but his mark of 137 still looks lenient and Harry Haynes takes a useful 5lb off his back.

Tidal Fury is providing the market opposition. Ferdy Murphy’s horse loves soft ground and he needs to go left-handed, both of which he has in his favour today, but he is almost always over-bet these days when he has those conditions, and he doesn’t have the same scope for improvement as Sa Suffit.

SA SUFFIT WON (ADV 9/4, SP 6/4)
