A lot of his best form is over two and a half miles, like when he finished second to Springwell Bay in a premier handicap chase at Cheltenam on New Year’s Day.  But he stayed three miles well at Newcastle in November last year when he finished third in the Rehearsal Chase, and he ran in the Sefton Hurdle at Aintree as a novice hurdler, over three miles, not in the Mersey or in the Top Novices’ Hurdle.

 

Also, he stayed two miles well on the flat at Goodwood last month, when he just went down by a neck to Poncho, who won again at Plumpton over hurdles next time, and that augurs well for a stamina test over fences.  He won’t lack in terms of race fitness today, he goes well at Cheltenham and he goes well on soft ground.
