Fearnot

Fearnot

26th-Jul-2025

I am backing Fearnot here.  I think that he is over-priced at 8/1 or 9/1.

Unraced as a juvenile, Clive Cox’s colt won a novice stakes at Wolverhampton in March on his racecourse debut, and he has been on a steep upward trajectory since.

He was really impressive in winning a Class 4 handicap over today’s course and distance in May.  That was his first run at Ascot, and he proved his affinity for the track when he went back there for the Royal meeting this year and finished third in the Britannia.  He went toe-to-toe with the winner Arabian Story from the furlong marker and, while he was caught for second place in the end by La Botte, he was only beaten a total of a half a length by the winner.

A 5lb hike for that was not harsh, it takes him up to a mark of 99, but, a three-year-old who has raced just five times, he has the potential to continue his progression now.  He goes well at the track, he stays a mile well, and his high draw is probably a positive.

Supido, fifth in the Britannia on just his second run for Ian Williams, was also on my shortlist, as were Hickory and Mythical Guest, but Fearnot is the bet.

FEARNOT WON (ADV 9/1, SP 10/1)
