Naina
28th-Sept-2024
I am taking a chance on Naina in the opening fillies’ nursery. She goes into the race in good form, she goes well at the track and she goes well on soft ground, and she is a bigger price than I think she should be.
John Ryan’s filly has won three of her last four races, and the only time she has disappointed in that time was at Newmarket last month, when she raced up with a strong pace from early, so you can allow her that.
She bounced back to form last time at Yarmouth, when she kept on well to win nicely, with the first three finishing clear. She has been raised by 6lb for that win, but she continues to progress, and there is every chance that she will be able to cope with a hike of that magnitude, up in grade.
She proved that she could operate on soft ground when she won her maiden at Brighton in July, and she proved her ability to operate at Newmarket when she won on the July Course last month.
Ghost Run is progressive, but she isn’t proven on the ground, and I think that Naina represents some value against her.
NAINA WON (ADV 8/1, SP 6/1)
