Unequal Love

22nd-Jun-2024

The Wokingham is obviously wide open, but Unequal Love is a classy filly, and she should appreciate the drop back down into handicap company.

She was a progressive filly last season as a three-year-old, her first season to race.  She won four of her last six races, progressing to a handicap rating of 95.

She looked good in winning a listed race at Newmarket’s Guineas meeting on her debut this season, and that earned her a place in the line-up for the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes at The Curragh on Irish Guineas weekend.  She ran well there too, she just had to check a little inside the final furlong, but she still finished a close-up fifth behind Mitbaahy and Regional.  Regional ran a big race in the King Charles III Stakes on Tuesday, and Mitbaahy is one of the leading fancies for the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes this afternoon.

Three of the four horses who finished ahead of her at The Curragh are rated 113 or higher, yet she gets to race today off a handicap rating of 102.  She should be capable of running a big race off that mark.

There are myriad dangers, Dark Trooper and Albasheer and Glenfinnan and Torivega were all on my shortlist, but I am happy to rely on Unequal Love.  Her low draw is a little bit of a worry, but that is more than factored into her odds.

UNEQUAL LOVE WON (ADV 16/1, SP 12/1)
