One Last Tango

27th-Dec-2023

I am backing One Last Tango here.

Eoin Griffin’s horse is only 3lb higher in the handicap than he was when he finished third in this race last year behind Winter Fog, when his jumping was not overly fluent, and there is every chance that this race has been his target again for a little while.

He put up a really encouraging performance on his debut this season, staying on well from the rear to take fourth place behind Fortundefortunata.  He has 12 lengths to find with that rival today, but that was his seasonal return, he was conceding race fitness to the winner, who was really well backed, he should improve on that, and he is 9lb better off.

Conyers Hill is progressive, and Nusret was tempting, but the ground may just be softer than ideal for Joseph O’Brien’s horse, and he may be better going right-handed anyway.

ONE LAST TANGO WON (ADV 5/1, SP 4/1)
