Heredia
2nd-Sept-2023
We had Heredia on side when she won a listed race at Haydock three weeks ago, and I wanted to get her on side again today, even though she is stepping up to a Group 3 contest now.
She did have the run of the race at Haydock, Sean Levey gave her a lovely ride from stall one, just better than mid-division early on behind a good pace and along the inside. That said, she won with plenty in hand, and she could improve again with that win under her belt.
She is a classy filly. She won the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot last year, and she finished second in a listed race at Newmarket over six furlongs earlier this season. She has good form over shorter, but her best form is over a mile. A strongly-run mile is probably her optimum.
She is drawn wide today, but that is not really a negative, she can be slowly away and she is usually held up anyway. I can see Sean Levey settling her towards the rear of the field early on and, with a few prominent racers in the race, there is every chance that there will be a good pace on. If there is, she is the most likely winner in my book.
HEREDIA WON (ADV 4/1, SP 5/2)
