Matilda Picotte

17th-Sept-2023

If Cachet is at her best, she is obviously the one they all have to beat in the Sceptre Stakes, but we haven’t seen her since June last year, and this is obviously just a starting point for her.  She probably has to run here, or soon, if she is going to take up her entry in the Sun Chariot Stakes. She may be vulnerable today ...

I had Matilda Picotte down as a six-furlong filly at the start of the season, but she ran a massive race to finish third in the Guineas, and, while she hasn’t won yet this season, she is not a blaze-and-burn filly.  She kept on well in the Fairy Bridge Stakes last time after showing her trademark early pace, going down by just a half a length to the Platinum Stakes winner Clever And Cool.

This seven-furlong trip is a good trip for her, and she goes well on easy ground.

MATILDA PICOTTE WON (ADV 15/2, SP 6/1)
