Granville Street

3rd-Aug-2023

I am taking a chance on Granville Street here at the price.

He shaped encouragingly in his first two runs for Ciaran Murphy early last season, but he was off the track after his second run in May, he missed the rest of the season.  He returned at Ballinrobe at the end of June this year, and he ran well for a long way in a nine-and-a-half-furlong maiden, leading and lasting in front until the run to the furlong marker, when lack of a recent run probably took its toll.

That race is working out really well, with runner-up Expound finishing a close second to Dark Note at Tramore next time, and third-placed Banned finishing second to Glan next time and then winning at Ballinrobe.

Granville Street is a lightly-raced horse who should come on for that run, his first in over 400 days.  Also, he should appreciate the step back up to a mile and a half.  He stays that trip well.

A mark of 68 is more than fair for this, his first handicap, his low draw is good for his forward-going style, and Dylan Browne McMonagle is a great booking.

GRANVILLE STREET WON (ADV 14/1, SP 11/1)
