Blue For You
15th-Jul-2023
I am taking a chance on the ground for Blue For You here.
His best form is on good or fast ground, but he didn’t run badly in the Challenge Cup at Ascot on easy ground last October, and he handled soft ground well when he won his maiden as a two-year-old at Galway for Dermot Weld.
Importantly, he goes well at York. He was beaten a half a length in this race last year off a 6lb lower mark, and he won a heritage handicap at the Ebor meeting last August, keeping on well to beat his stable companion Escobar by a head, the pair of them clear. He is only 3lb higher now than he was then, and, given how well he ran in the race last year, it is probable that David O’Meara has had this race in mind for him for a little while.
