Castle Way

13th-Jul-2023

I do like Saint George, he ran a massive race in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot when we had him on side to finish second to the St Leger favourite Gregory, but he is popular this morning, and 5/2 about him for the Bahrain Trophy is no better than fair in my book.

By contrast, I thought that Castle Way should have been shorter than he is, and he is the bet.

Charlie Appleby’s horse stayed on well to win a nursery over 10 furlongs on his final run last season on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket, and he ran out a good winner back over the same course and distance on his debut this season.

He has to improve again, but there is every chance that he will, he has a nice progressive profile. He has to prove his stamina for a mile and five furlongs too, but there is lots of stamina in his pedigree, and the fact that he won a nursery over 10 furlongs at two suggests that he should get a fair bit further at three. He could even improve for the step up to this trip. And we know that Godolphin love to have winners at this meeting. It is probable that connections will have him primed for today.

CASTLE WAY WON (ADV 13/2, SP 9/2)
