Triple Time

20th-Jun-2023

I have been kicking the Queen Anne around for a while, I came close to backing Chindit and Native Trail and Mutasaabeq at various stages in the last week or two but, in the end, I have decided to get Triple Time on side to small stakes at a big price.

Kevin Ryan’s horse has about a stone to find on official ratings with the top horses in the race, but he is lightly raced and progressive, there is a chance that he can find that level of improvement.

Always highly regarded, he won a listed race at Haydock on his final run as a juvenile, and he had the Guineas on his radar before a setback ruled him out.  He didn’t return to the track last year until September, when he ran out an impressive winner of the Group 3 Superior Mile back at Haydock.

He did lots wrong that day, he was slowly away, he made up ground quickly and, probably as a consequence, he was keener than ideal early on. Yet he still had enough in reserve to win easily.

He was beaten in the Group 2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein in France on his final run last season, but that was on soft ground and it was abroad and it was his second run back after a long break, so you can easily allow him that.

Freshened up and making his seasonal debut here, he could go well. We know that he can go well fresh, and he should get a fast pace, which should suit well.  He is speculative, but he is well over-priced in my book.
