Gloire D’Athon

29-Apr-2023

It was encouraging to see the strength in the market behind Gloire D’Athon last night, and we are well ahead of the market as a result.
He has a real chance too. He won his first two chases earlier this season before going to Plumpton in February after a break and finishing second to Lord Baddesley.

He just couldn’t wrest the lead from Lord Baddesley that day, but he still kept on well to finish a good second at a track that probably wasn’t ideal for him.

He should be happier back at Sandown today, where he probably put up the best performance of his career in winning a novices’ handicap chase in December on Tingle Creek weekend, over today’s course and distance, when he was always holding Fable, who re-opposes today. He is only 3lb higher now than he was then, and that gives him a real chance. The rain is not a negative, good to soft ground is ideal, and Sandown suits his forward-going style of racing.

GLOIRE D’ATHON WON (ADV 14/1, SP 11/2)
