Corach Rambler

14th-Mar-2023

(Message of 1st March 2023)

This is a race in which proven form in the race is historically a positive. Vintage Clouds had finished third and second in the race before he won it in 2021, Bensalem fell when travelling well in the race in 2010 before going back to win it in 2011, Un Temps Pour Temps won it in 2016 and 2017, while Beware The Bear finished fourth in 2018 before winning it in 2019.

Corach Rambler did well to win the race last year. Well back in the field early on, he made good progress on the run down the hill to the home turn, and he stayed on really well over the final two fences and up the hill to win decisively.

He has raced just twice this season to date, he was well beaten in the Colin Parker Memorial Chase at Carlisle on his return, but he ran a massive race in the Coral Trophy at Newbury in November, staying on well from the rear to take fourth place.

He probably ideally needs a sterner test of stamina than three miles and one furlong presents, but they usually go fast in this race, and that should bring his stamina into play again. He has raced just eight times over fences, and he is back down to mark of 146 now, just 6lb higher than the mark off which he won the race last year.

CORACH RAMBLER WON (ADV 10/1, SP 6/1)
