Fontaine Collonges

19th-Nov-2022

I am backing Fontaine Collonges here.

Venetia Williams’ mare thrives on soft and heavy ground.  She has won four times on soft or heavy ground, at four different tracks, and she put up the best performance of her career on her latest run, at Lingfield in January, when she stayed on well to win a mares’ handicap chase on heavy ground.

She was always prominent that day, and she came away from her rivals from the second last fence to win well, with subsequent winner Wouldubewell staying on behind her into second.

The handicapper raised her by 10lb for that to a mark of 132, but that was just her fourth chase, she has the potential to continue progressing.  Also, her dam is a sister to Neptune Collonges, so she is bred to improve for stepping up to today’s trip.

FONTAINE COLLONGES WON (ADV 9/2, SP 7/2)
