La Petite Coco

26th-June-2022

Keeping with the Paddy Twomey/Billy Lee theme (the trainer’s horses continue to be in tremendous form – French Claim ran a big race at a big price in the Irish Derby yesterday – and Billy Lee continues to ride out of his skin – he had another double yesterday), I am backing La Petite Coco in the Pretty Polly Stakes.

She was a hugely progressive filly last year, winning four of her five races, and rounding off the season by beating Love in the Group 2 Blandford Stakes over today’s course and distance.

It isn’t ideal that she hasn’t run since, but she did win impressively at Killarney last August on her first run for Paddy Twomey, her first run back after a short break, and, more significantly, it appears as if her trainer has had this race in mind for her for a while.

A little more rain wouldn’t be a negative, but it was good ground when she won the Blandford, and it shouldn't be any quicker than that today.

Old friend Dreamloper was tempting, and I can see Paddy Twomey’s other filly Rosscarbery running well at a decent price, but La Petite Coco is the bet.

LA PETITE COCO WON (SP 9/1)
