Outgate

5th-May-2022

I think that Outgate is over-priced here at 11/4.  I think that he should be favourite in front of Koy Koy.

Outgate was progressive last season as a juvenile after he won on his racecourse debut at Wolverhampton in July.  He won a seven-furlong nursery at Haydock in September off a mark of 77, and he rounded off the season with a fine run to finish second to Point Lynas in a seven-furlong nursery at Newmarket off a mark of 84, when he had Bullet Force – runner-up in a good handicap at Newmarket on Saturday – a half a length behind him in third.

Outgate ran a fine race too on his debut this season to finish second in a good handicap at Newmarket’s Craven meeting over a mile off a mark of 85.  He was well beaten by Tranquil Night in the end, but Tranquil Night is a highly progressive Godolphin colt who was completing a hat-trick, and Outgate finished a good second, racing towards the far side from his low draw.  The other three horses who, with him, filled the first four places were all drawn high.

Koy Koy has plenty of potential for progression, and Aleezdancer was tempting at a decent price, but Outgate is the bet.

OUTGATE WON (ADV 11/4, SP 9/4)
