Dreamloper

1st-May-2022

I think that Dreamloper should be a fair bit shorter than she is in the Dahlia Stakes.  Ed Walker’s mare is five now, she doesn’t have the attractive profile that some of her four-year-old rivals have, but she is a highly talented mare, who probably doesn’t get due recognition, possibly because she has only won three times.

One of those wins was in a Group 3 race at Ascot last July over the round mile on fast ground, when she quickened up well and won impressively from Lights On, who won the Group 2 Bet365 Mile at Sandown two weeks ago.

She was well beaten in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown, when she was just punching above her weight in that Group 1 contest, but she put up a big performance on her final run last season to finish third in the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket, behind Saffron Beach and Mother Earth.

That was just her second run at Newmarket, and she handled the track well.  The step up to nine furlongs today should suit, and the faster ground should be in her favour.  It is a good race, but I would have had her in a fair bit shorter than she is.

DREAMLOPER WON (ADV 11/2, SP 4/1)
