Digby

17th-Apr-2022

I am backing Digby here.  I think that he is over-priced at 10/1.

Dermot McLoughlin’s horse was progressive last autumn, he stayed on well to win his maiden hurdle at Sligo in August, and he stepped forward from that last time when he won at Killarney over two miles and seven furlongs.

He didn’t race after that until he returned at Navan last month, where he ran well for a long way, he led until the second last flight before fading, as lack of a recent run probably took its toll.

Given his connections, it is probable that they have had this meeting in mind for him for a while, and that run at Navan last time should bring him forward nicely for today.  Two and a half miles on goodish ground should be close to ideal for him, and he is a lightly-raced horse who has the potential to go beyond the handicap rating of 118 off which he races today.

DIGBY WON (ADV 10/1, SP 7/1)
