Raadobarg

26th-Mar-2022

Raadobarg is favourite for the Irish Lincoln, but I still think that it is worthwhile backing him at 5/1.  He could be well ahead of the handicapper.

He won his first three races last season for Roger Varian, and he didn’t run badly in the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot on fast ground.

He ran a big race in a good one-mile handicap at Doncaster’s St Leger meeting in September, finishing third, just a length and a half behind Royal Fleet, who won a Group 3 race at Meydan last month.  He had to make his ground towards the far side too that day, and he wasn’t helped by the runner-up at the furlong marker, and the first three finished nicely clear.

He hasn’t run since he was beaten at Kempton at the end of September last year, but that was his first run on all-weather and his sixth run of the season, at the end of the season.  He has since joined Johnny Murtagh, and you know that this race will have been the plan for quite some time.  Ground just on the easy side of good is ideal, he is nicely drawn in stall 12 and he will have the excellent Ben Coen for company.

Star Of Cashel and Luke Short and Star Harbour were all on my shortlist, but I am happy to rely on Raadobarg.

RAADOBARG WON (ADV 5/1, SP 9/2)
