(Message of 18th February 2021)
Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle
Cheltenham, Wednesday, 17th March 2021
… Bob Olinger is just a hugely talented and progressive horse of Henry de Bromhead’s. Winner of his only point-to-point and his only bumper, when he beat the well-regarded Coqolino by 10 lengths, he was only just beaten by potential superstar Ferny Hollow at Gowran Park on his debut this season, and he was seriously impressive in winning his maiden next time at Navan next time, when he had 14 lengths in hand of Dunboyne, who won his maiden at Thurles on Monday.
He was good too in the Grade 1 Lawlor's of Naas Hotel Hurdle at Naas, he travelled well through his race and he picked up nicely and stayed on well to come clear of Blue Lord. (The pair of them finished well clear of Gabynako, who made a bad mistake early on in the Ladbrokes Hurdle next time, and Crosshill was well beaten when he fell at the final flight, and the time of the race was good.)
It was just his third run over hurdles and just his fourth run under Rules, so he should come on for that. He has always been really highly regarded by connections, and he stays two and a half miles well.
BOB OLINGER WON (ADV 4/1, SP 6/4)
