Rouge Vif

23rd-Oct-2020

Rouge Vif has been very weak in the market this morning, but I still think that it is worth backing him.  We had him on side when he finished third in the Arkle, but that wasn’t a step forward on the performance that he put up at Warwick to win the Kingmaker Chase on his final run before Cheltenham.

He was very good that day at Warwick, he jumped well and he travelled well and he ran out a good winner from a good horse in Nube Negra.  He has been beaten on both his runs at Cheltenham, but they were both on soft ground.  The better ground today should help him lots.  He jumps really well off good ground.

Also, he goes well fresh, his record after a break of around 200 days reads 151, and the 5 was on heavy ground at Newton Abbot in 2018.  His weakness in the market is obviously a slight concern, but that is compensated for by his inflated odds.

ROUGE VIF WON (ADV 6/1, SP 5/1)
