Wichita

12th-Sept-2020

Wichita is a little bit of a leap of faith, you have to allow him his last two runs, but there are reasons why you can and, if he can bounce back to his best - and there is every chance that he can - then he is the one they all have to beat in the Park Stakes.

First the excuses.  The Sussex Stakes is easy, he came back lame, having lost a shoe, and with an irregular heartbeat.  The Prix Maurice de Gheest is more difficult, but that was over six and a half furlongs, taking on speed horses like Hello Youmzain and Golden Horde, and it just wasn’t his running.

His Guineas run was superb, when he went down by a neck to Kameko, as was his run in the St James’s Palace Stakes, when he finished a close-up third behind Palace Pier and Pinatubo in a thriller.  On both occasions, he left the impression that a drop back down to seven furlongs would suit.

He gets to race over seven furlongs today, and we know that he goes well at the track, he was second to Molatham in the Flying Scotsman at this meeting last year.  Limato sets a good standard, but there is every chance that an on-song Wichita can beat him.

WICHITA WON (ADV 7/2, SP 11/4)
