Pista
10th-Sept-2020
It is a fascinating Park Hill Stakes. Believe In Love was so impressive in coming clear of her field at Newmarket last time, and Monica Sheriff was an eye-catcher for just about everybody in the Ebor, and Vivionn ran really well in the Galtres Stakes last time, and Snow is tough and classy and stays well.
But Pista is the bet. Joseph O’Brien’s filly is still all about potential, but she was seriously impressive in winning at the Galway Festival, and she stepped up on that last time when she won the Listed Vinnie Roe Stakes at Leopardstown.
Shoshone Warrior set a fast pace that day, and Pista sat well off it, but she travelled well for Shane Crosse until they left the back straight. Still last of the seven runners at that point, she had to come widest of all into the home straight, but she stayed on strongly from the two-furlong marker to get up and run down Dawn Patrol and Sunchart close home, with Emperor Of The Sun back in fourth.
It is strong form, Dawn Patrol was third in the Irish Derby, and he was held up off the pace too, as was Emperor Of The Sun, who went out next time and ran second to Galileo Chrome at Navan.
That was just Pista’s third race, so she has lots of scope to continue her progression. She stays a mile and six furlongs well, and she should appreciate the test that the Park Hill invariably is.
PISTA WON (ADV 11/2, SP 6/1)
