Kew Gardens

19th-Oct-2019

I think that there is a chance that Kew Gardens will beat Stradivarius.

Aidan O’Brien’s horse was top class last year as a three-year-old. He won the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot, and he won the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris, and he won the St Leger.

He was beaten by Morando on soft ground in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester in May, and that is a slight concern, given that the ground is going to be soft again today, but that concern is factored well into his odds in my book. Second to Defoe in the Coronation Cup, he returned from a break to run a fine race last time in the Irish St Leger, staying on well to take second place behind Search For A Song.

There is every chance that he will come on for that run, and the step up to two miles today is a positive. And he is one for one at Ascot. He could give Stradivarius plenty to think about, and we are ahead of the market.

KEW GARDENS WON (ADV 9/2, SP 7/2)
