Donjuan Triumphant
10th-Nov-2018
Donjuan Triumphant is short enough here, but he is the most likely winner of the race in my book, and it is well worth backing him at 3/1 or 100/30.
He hasn’t won since he won at Haydock in September last year, and he lost his way a little in the meantime, but his last two runs have been very good. On his penultimate run, in the Haydock Sprint Cup in early September, he was a running-on fourth, only two lengths behind the winner The Tin Man. And he did even better last time in the British Champions Sprint Stakes on Champions Day at Ascot, when he finished third behind Sands Of Mali and Harry Angel.
He had Brando and Sir Dancealot and The Tin Man and Tasleet and Librisa Breeze behind him that day. That is top class sprint form, and a repeat of that run, or his Haydock run, should see him home today.
Laugh A Minute is a danger, and we have had him on side in the past, and he is back at Doncaster, where he is two for two. However, he is going to have to step forward from his last two runs, which were both very good, if he is going to reach Donjuan Triumphant’s level of form.
Librisa Breeze would be a danger to all if he were to bounce back to his best, but he is away from Ascot, and he may not be the horse that he used to be anyway. Donjuan Triumphant is solid.
