Here Comes When
8th-Sept-2018
I am backing Here Comes When here, now that he is back on soft ground. I think that he is over-priced at 5/1.
Andrew Balding’s horse probably didn’t get the credit that he deserved for winning the Sussex Stakes last year. True, the ground came up very soft that day, but he relishes that ground, and he beat Ribchester and Lightning Spear, both of whom have form on soft ground.
He hasn’t won since then, but he didn’t run badly in the Bet365 Mile at Sandown on his return this season, and he ran well last time at Goodwood, when he was only beaten a total of four lengths by Sir Dancealot in the Lennox Stakes, when he didn’t have a lot of racing room.
He will be happier back over a mile today, and back on easier ground.
Regal Reality is a progressive horse who was very weak in the market when he beat Ostilio in the Thoroughbred Stakes at Goodwood last time, and Emmaus will love today’s ground, but Here Comes When is the one who has been under-rated by the market in my book.
