Skitter Scatter
16th-Sept-2018
I think that Skitter Scatter is generally an under-rated filly, and I think that she has been under-rated again by the market today.
She is small, but her performances have belied her stature. She beat Sergei Prokofiev at Dundalk in April, and she was impressive in winning the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown in August, a race in which yesterday’s listed race winner Sparkle’n’joy finished fourth.
Then last time, she was even more impressive in winning the Group 2 Debutante Stakes, when she had four of today’s rivals behind her.
She is stepping up again in class today, into a Group 1 contest. Just Wonderful, Main Edition and Beyond Reason are all dangers. But none of those fillies have achieved any more than Patrick Prendergast’s filly has achieved, and the ground may be faster than ideal for Beyond Reason.
Skitter Scatter is proven over the course and distance, and the ground should be even faster today than it was for the Debutante Stakes. She is by Scat Daddy out of a Street Cry mare, so you have to think that, the faster the ground, the better for her.
I think that she should be favourite for today’s race, and I think that she is a fair way over-priced at 5/1.
SKITTER SCATTER WON (ADV 5/1, SP 7/2)
