Alletrix
4th-Feb-2018
I thought that Alletrix should have been shorter for this than she is, and I am backing her at 11/2.
The case for Jessica Harrtington’s mare is obvious. She ran out of her skin last weekend at Fairyhouse to finish second to Laurina in the Grade 3 Solerina Hurdle. She was well beaten by the winner in the end, but Laurina could be very good, and Alletrix was well clear of the third mare.
The handicapper raised her by 9lb for that but, because today’s race is an early-closing race, she gets to race off her old mark of 116 today.
She is progressive too. She was there with a chance on her penultimate run, she had just moved up among horses to join the front rank, in a novices’ hurdle at Fairyhouse in December that Midnight Stroll won when she came down at the second last flight. She is only five and she has raced just five times over hurdles, so she should contonue to improve.
It is a little bit of a worry that her latest run was just last weekend, but that is more than compensated for by her odds and the fact that she is 9lb well-in.
ALLETRIX WON (ADV 11/2, SP 4/1)
