Eartha Kitt
14th-Oct-2017
I am backing Eartha Kitt here. I think that she is over-priced at 6/1.
Tom Dascombe’s filly has been generally progressive this season, and she probably put up a career-best last time in finishing a close-up third behind Pixeleen and Magical Dreamer over today’s course and distance last week.
She can be marked up a fair bit on the bare form of that run too, because she came from mid-division in a race in which it was probably a significant advantage to race prominently. She was the only one of the first four home who came from off the pace, and she nearly got there too.
She is 6lb better off with Pixeleen today, and that should allow her turn the tables. More than that, there could be a good handicap in her now off this mark of 97. A 2lb hike for her latest run is not harsh.
Spiritual Lady is the biggest danger in my book. She was disappointing on her debut this season at York last month but, if she can return to the form that she showed when she won a listed race over today’s course and distance last October, she would be a big player. And with Ryan Moore booked, that is more than possible.
That said, I think that Eartha Kitt has been under-rated by the market, and she is the bet.
EARTHA KITT WON (ADV 6/1, SP 5/1)
