Tiger Roll

14th-Mar-2017

Edwulf and A Genie In Abottle have been all the rage for the National Hunt Chase, and I respect both, but A Genie In Abottle has been short for it ever since Noel Meade said that this was his target, and I am still worried about Edwulf’s jumping, especially on goodish ground ...

Tiger Roll is actually the second highest rated horse in the race after Edwulf.  Gordon Elliott’s horse is a little bit hit and miss, but he is highly capable when things fall his way, as they did in the Munster National at Limerick in October, when he beat Stellar Notion by seven lengths, giving him 3lb.  Stellar Notion has since run two big races in big handicaps.

Tiger Roll has been a bit disappointing in two runs since, but those two runs came up quite quickly, he hasn’t run since October, he has probably been kept fresh for this.

He won the Triumph Hurdle in 2014, so we know that he handles Cheltenham Festival conditions and, still just seven, there could still be more to come from him as a staying chaser.

He will love the goodish ground, and Lisa O’Neill is a good amateur rider.
