Definitly Red

26th-Dec-2016

Definitly Red was beaten in the Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle last time, but he was beaten by a good horse in Otago Trail and, as mentioned previously elsewhere, the race was run in a fast time.  As well as that, Brian Ellison’s horse was staying on again up the run-in after jumping a little stickily.  This contest should present a stiffer test of stamina than the Newcastle race did, the distance is a little longer and they should go a stronger pace, and that will play to his strengths.

Definitly Red was a high-class novice chaser last season, he wasn’t beaten far by Black Hercules at Warwick in January, nor by Blaklion in the Towton Chase at Wetherby in February, and those two horses went on to win Grade 1 chases at the Cheltenham Festival.

He started off this season well too in beating Onefitzall at Carlisle and, only seven and with just six chases under his belt, he should be able to continue his upward trajectory now.

DEFINITLY RED WON (ADV 5/1, SP 9/2)
