Sir Isaac Newton

18th-Jun-2016

Sir Isaac Newton has been disappointing in two runs this season, but the form of the listed race in which he finished third last time at The Curragh received a nice boost when the winner Portage won the Hunt Cup on Wednesday, and you have to think that this meeting has been on Aidan O’Brien’s mind for him from early in the season.

He was only sixth in the Jersey Stakes last year when we had him on side, but that does not tell the story.  He could have won, he was checked in his run twice, he was probably the best horse in race.  That augurs well for today. (We know that he goes well at the track.)

Ryan Moore takes over in the saddle today for the first time since then, which is significant and, a brother to Oaks runner-up Secret Gesture, he stays this 10-furlong trip well.

SIR ISAAC NEWTON WON (ADV 10/1, SP 7/1)
