Hawkbill

30th-Apr-2016

Hawkbill is more speculative, and he can be a little bit headstrong and quirky, but he won his last three races last season on Polytrack and, if he can translate that form back to turf now, he is right in the mix.

He led the whole way for his last two wins at Kempton, over seven furlongs and a mile respectively.  He only just got home last time, but he won with more in hand than the winning margin he was probably just idling more than tiring.

He steps up to 10 furlongs today, but that could bring about further improvement.  By Kitten’s Joy, his dam was graded placed (beaten a neck in a Grade 3 race) over a mile and three furlongs, so he should get today’s trip all right.  He is a front-runner, and the Rowley Mile is a front-runner’s track.  He may not be up to this, but it is worth having him on side at a big price.

HAWKBILL WON (ADV 18/1, SP 14/1)
