Mosspark

12th-Mar-2016

I am taking a chance on Mosspark here at 13/2.  He can be a little quirky, but I think that he is worth chancing at this track at the price.

Emma Lavelle’s horse has never won over fences, but he won three of his four hurdle races, he was an exciting chasing prospect, and he ran a cracker to finish second in this race last year off a mark of 128, just 1lb lower than today’s mark.

He was disappointing on the face of it on his only run this season, in Aloomomo’s race at Newbury, but he lost a shoe that day and he reportedly came back with a gash on his leg, so you can easily forgive him that.

It is interesting that Emma Lavelle allows him run today without cheekpieces or a visor, he didn’t need any headgear over hurdles, so hopefully he can get close to his hurdles form now.  He is rated 129 now over fences, 7lb lower than his hurdles mark, so he has lots of potential off that mark.  Also, he has raced just six times over fences, he could be set to progress now over the larger obstacles.

He handles soft ground well and he ran a big race on his only run to date at Sandown, in this race last year.  He is not one for maximum stakes, but he has a better chance than odds of 13/2 suggest.

MOSSPARK WON (ADV 13/2, SP 5/1)
