Ericht

27th-Feb-2016

Ericht has not achieved all he set out to achieve, but he is still a talented horse, and, now that the ground is starting to dry out, he is capable of winning a decent handicap chase off this mark of 126, which is 14lb lower than his peak rating.

Of course, there is a reason why he has dropped to this mark, and he was well beaten in Roc D’Apsis’ race last time at Kempton, but that was on soft ground.  He is a better horse on better ground.

He shaped promisingly on his debut this season on goodish ground behind Knock House at Cheltenham’s November meeting.  All his best runs are on ground no worse that good to soft, this two and a half miles is his trip, and he has won twice at Kempton in just four runs there, once on the Polytrack and once on good to soft ground.  His two defeats there have been on soft ground.  He is worth backing today.

ERICHT WON (SP 5/1)
