Goldream
4th-Oct-2015
I am getting Goldream on side now, on the fast ground. Robert Cowell’s horse is a high-class performer on fast ground, as he showed when he won the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket in May, and again when he won the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. You can easily ignore his runs in the Temple Stakes and the Nunthorpe Stakes, both on easy ground.
He should have the race run to suit today. The Abbaye can be a strange race, in that the front-runners usually go off too fast, and the hold-up horses often find trouble getting through. Goldream usually sits just off the pace, a running style that should be ideal for today’s race.
Of course, he will still need luck in-running, but every horse will, and he should be better placed than most to minimise the need for luck. He has a nice low draw in stall five, and it is just three away from front-runner Take Cover, so he should get a nice tow into the race. A fast-run five furlongs is ideal for him, and he could go close.
GOLDREAM WON (ADV 8/1)
