Pressure Point
30th-May-2015
Pressure Point won with lots in hand at Newcastle on his penultimate run, probably a good bit more than the 7lb by which he was raised for winning. He followed up by running really well over today’s course and distance at the Dante meeting a couple of weeks ago.
He travelled into the race nicely just behind the leaders on that occasion, but it was a meeting during which it was a big advantage to be right on the pace. Libran, who was well-in under a penalty for his previous win, was slightly better positioned and kicked clear inside the last two furlongs. Pressure Point wasn’t ever going to catch him, but he kept on well for second, beaten just a length at the line.
Although that was a 0-85 and today’s race is a 0-90, today’s race probably doesn’t have as much strength in depth. Although Pressure Point is up a further 6lb, he should run well again. He clearly handles York well and still has scope for improvement after just 11 races in his life.
PRESSURE POINT WON (ADV 7/1, SP 5/1)
