Yourartisonfire

26th-Apr-2014

Yourartisonfire ran a really nice race in the Spring Mile at Doncaster on his reappearance, and that run gives him a big chance today. He was on the seemingly favoured part of the track at Doncaster, but he was a little keener than ideal through the first couple of furlongs and he picked up nicely at the two-furlong pole when asked. It appeared as though he was winding up to throw down a serious challenge to Brae Hill but his effort flattened out a little on the holding ground over that stiff mile on his first run of the season.

He still kept on to finish third, in front of Farlow, who has already boosted the form by winning at Thirsk since. Yourartisonfire wasn’t as battle-hardened as the rivals with whom he fought out the finish at Doncaster, he should be significantly better for that run, both in terms of fitness and experience, and interestingly the other two four-year-olds in the race both finished well down the field (albeit they probably didn’t race on the best part of the track).

Karl Burke’s horse has been left on his mark of 83, plus he has the talented Joey Haynes taking off 5lb, and he should be suited by the better ground today. He goes on easy ground, he won his maiden at Haydock on soft ground as a two-year-old, but he won on quick ground at Sandown last year and he is probably slightly better away from soft ground. He wouldn’t have to improve much on his Doncaster run to be right in the mix here, and there is every chance he could improve a fair bit for that. He is well worth having on side at 9/1.

YOURARTISONFIRE WON (ADV 9/1, SP 7/1)
