Altano

6th-Oct-2013

Having run a really promising race in the Ascot Gold Cup, making up a lot of ground from right out the back in the home straight, Altano ran another solid race in the Goodwood Cup when we had him on side, and when, again, he wasn’t really suited by the way the race unfolded.

He is an out-and-out stayer, but he had the class to make up a lot of ground off what hadn’t been an overly strong pace in the Ascot Gold Cup. This race looked like the perfect long-term target for him then, two and a half miles on soft ground should be perfect for him.

Hopefully they go fast enough to bring his stamina into play, which they should do with Les Beaufs and his stablemate Seismos in the race, and it is not hard to see him playing a part. He is well worth having on side.

ALTANO WON (ADV 9/1, SP 9/1)
