Annecdote
19th-Jun-2013
Fleeting Smile and Annecdote ... met at Newmarket at the end of last season. Annecdote came out on top that day and both have progressed nicely since then.
That form is strong. The third horse, Ghanaian, won impressively at Salisbury last week on her first run since, and the fourth horse, Supernova Heights, was only narrowly beaten by Woodland Aria, one of the favourites for today’s race, at Leicester.
Annecdote was quite well beaten on her reappearance at Goodwood over a mile, but she didn’t have the greatest trip that day, she didn’t look completely at home on the track, and her stable had still yet to hit form at that stage. The stable has taken off since then, and Annecdote left that form well behind when running out a good winner of a decent fillies’ handicap at Newbury on Lockinge Stakes day, the form of which was franked when the runner-up went very close in a hot race at Sandown last Saturday.
Annecdote has to prove that she stays a mile, but there is every chance that she will, she was too free at Goodwood on her return and she should get much more cover today. She is really progressive, her yard in flying, and 16/1 looks too big.
ANNECDOTE WON (ADV 16/1, SP 9/1)
