Katenko
5th-Jan-2013
Katenko is also worth having on side at 7/1 or 13/2. He ran a promising race on his first run for Venetia Williams since coming over from France in the Fixed Brush Hurdle at Haydock, travelling exuberantly for a circuit and a half until he started to struggle at the end of the back straight. That was his first run since May, he was probably in need of the run
He built on that over fences at Ascot two weeks ago. He had to give best in the end to the really progressive Wyck Hill – who was winning the fourth of his last five completed starts – but he again travelled nicely and he battled on well, even when headed, coming back at the winner over the final two fences.
He has been left on the same mark as for that race, which seems generous. He won three times over fences in France, including a Grade 3 four-year-old chase, and he should be even fitter now after his two runs for his new yard. Aidan Coleman takes over in the saddle, he can afford to be a bit more patient on the horse with several prominent racers in the line-up, and Venetia Williams’ horses continue to be in fine form.
KATENKO WON (ADVISED 7/1, SP 5/1)
