Monksland
28th-Dec-2012
I think that Zaidour is too short at 6/4. I don’t think that there should be as much between him and the two horses that he beat in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse last time as there is ...
Zaidpour was much the best horse in the race on the day at Fairyhouse last time, but he had the run of the race, around the inside just behind the pace, and he got a nice split when he needed it. Monksland had to race wide throughout, and he got a little outpaced when they quickened on the run to the second last before staying on late on.
That was his first foray into this type of class outside of novice company, and he acquitted himself really well. It was just his fifth run over hurdles, he has a really nice progressive profile, and it is interesting that Noel Meade has decided to step him up in trip here instead of racing tomorrow over two miles. His dam won over two miles and five furlongs, and she is from the family of stayer Kissane, so he has every chance of staying the trip. If he does, he is a major player.
MONKSLAND WON (ADV 9/2, SP 11/4)
