High Jinx
9th-Jun-2012
High Jinx is favourite for this, but he is a worthy favourite, he is the most likely winner of the race, and he is worth backing at 4/1.
James Fanshawe’s horse is really unexposed, he has only run five times in his life, and only twice over today’s 12-furlong trip, winning his maiden easily on the first occasion, and not disgracing himself at all on the second over today’s course when he did really well to finish third having been held up in a race in which it paid to be prominent – the winner made all the running and the second horse was never far away.
That run was at the end of August, he wasn’t actually seen out again after that last year, but he made a highly encouraging reappearance at Doncaster at the end of April. Dropping down to 10 furlongs, he was outpaced early in the straight before staying on well through the final furlong to finish fourth. That looked a decent race, the three who finished in front of him are all unexposed, he should come on for the run, and should improve considerably for stepping back up to a mile and a half today. There are no worries concerning the ground, whereas his two main market rivals, Mulaqen and Spifer, both have to prove they can act on soft ground. Ryan Moore rides him for the first time today, and that is a significant positive, Moore is riding as well as ever this season, and at 4/1 he is worth backing.
High Office was also interesting at a bigger price, he ran a cracker at York on his last run, finding plenty for pressure, and he handles today’s conditions, but he just doesn’t win that often and I much prefer High Jinx.
HIGH JINX WON (ADV 4/1, SP 7/2)
