Arnold Lane

10th-May-2012

Arnold Lane is also worth backing at 10/1 or 11/1. He wasn’t beaten that far in the Middle Park Stakes on his last run last season, considering that he should have been out-classed, and that it all seemed to happen a little quickly for him over six furlongs on fast ground, despite the fact that he finished 14th of 16.

On his previous run, he had run a cracker to finish second to Artistic Jewel in what is turning out to be a really hot four-horse conditions race at Salisbury over six furlongs on soft ground. The winner went on to win a listed race at Newmarket on her next and only run since, while the fourth horse, Gusto, has now won all of his subsequent five races.

Arnold Lane is bred to appreciate this step up in trip, he should handle the ground, he has the plum draw in stall one ,and the fact that this is his seasonal debut is not a major concern, given that he sprang a mild surprise by winning on his racecourse debut at Leicester last May. He has been overlooked a little by the market.

ARNOLD LANE WON (ADV 11/1, SP 9/1)
