Teaforthree
14th March 2012
We already have Alfie Spinner on side, and I am happy with our bet on him, but I thought that we should also get Teaforthree on side this morning at ante post prices, non-runner-no-bet.
There is no major rocket science to Teaforthree, but I have come around from thinking that he was just a danger to Alfie Spinner, to thinking that he was a bet at 7/1.
He has been steadily progressive all season, fist coming to attention as a staying chaser when he ran a cracker to finish a close-up second behind Join Together – now a short price for the RSA Chase – and in front of Restless Harry in the three-mile novices’ chase at Cheltenham’s November meeting, proving that he could jump around Cheltenham, and shaping as though he would be better over even further.
He again stayed on really well to beat Restless Harry in a good three-mile novices’ chase at Chepstow in early December, the pair of them clear of the talented Cannington Brook, and he proved that he was none the worse for being pulled up in the Feltham Chase on St Stephen’s Day – when he and Mr Moonshine just went too fast through the early stages of the race – when he made all to win a good three-runner affair back at Chepstow.
He would probably ideally prefer the ground to be softer than it is probably going to be tomorrow, but the step up to four miles should go at least some way towards mitigating the goodish ground. He is the highest-rated horse in the race, he would be conceding weight to everything if this was a handicap, he jumps well, he stays, all his good runs over fences have been at Cheltenham and Chepstow, a track that is not dissimilar to Cheltenham, and Rebecca Curtis’s horses are in really good form.
TEAFORTHREE WON (ADV 7/1, SP 5/1)
