Les Fazzani

05-Sept-2009

Les Fazzani finally has her conditions here, a mile and a half and ease in the ground, and she can go close here in a race in which there is a lot of deadwood. Winner of a listed race on soft ground at Doncaster last November, Kevin Ryan’s filly was a bit disappointing on her seasonal debut this term at Naas, when the ground was on the easy side, when she was beaten 10 lengths by Beauty O’Gwaun, but she proved that run to be all wrong when she went back to Haydock and finished second to the highly talented Suzy’s Decision, giving her weight, on ground that would have been plenty fast enough for her.

Her latest run was in the Noblesse Stakes, when she finished well behind Grace O’Malley, but again the ground was too fast for her. She has been dropped down to a mark of 103 on the back of that performance and, while she has to give plenty of weight away today – 11lb and more on the long handicap – she should be a class above her rivals. The booking of Gary Carroll is a huge positive. He is huge value for his 5lb claim, and it means that Les Fazzani will only have 9st 7lb to carry as opposed to 9st 12lb, and that makes a huge difference. She is worth backing at 14/1.

LES FAZZANI WON (ADV 14/1, SP 12/1)
