Suruor
30-Jul-2009
A fast-run seven furlongs is just what Suruor needs, and hopefully we can recoup Ascot losses on him now. He was desperately unlucky to come up against an on-song Secret Society last time, just going down by a whisker with the pair of them clear of some useful rivals, including Invisible Man, who won last weekend at Newmarket. A 5lb hike for that performance is not harsh, given that Secret Society went so close in the highly competitive Abu Dhabi International last weekend under his 3lb penalty, and Suruor remains progressive. The easy ground is a little bit of a worry, simply because he is so good on fast ground, but he didn't run badly at Chester last September, behind Firebet, the only time that he encountered easy ground, so he should be okay on it. A fast-run race over seven furlongs is his optimum, he is well drawn in stall 12, and hopefully Jimmy Fortune will hold onto him until well inside the final furlong before delivering his challenge. If he does, Suruor should go very close.
SURUOR WON (ADV 8/1, SP 9/2)
