Oscars Brother

The third horse to take out of the Brown Advisory Chase is Oscars Brother, who is different to his old rival Koktail Divin, in that he will probably need an even greater test of stamina to be seen to best effect. He started off in the front rank, but he had dropped to 10th or 11th by the time they turned after jumping two fences to head off into the country with two circuits to go. Still 11th as they passed the stands again with just one circuit to go, he was only ninth jumping the third last fence, and the first eight had a break on him. He stayed on well from there though, he jumped into sixth place over the last and he stayed on well from there to take fourth place.

It was a big run by Connor King's horse, as he continues his progression. He was faster than all his rivals through the final furlong of the race. He was a good staying novice hurdler last season, he won a listed novices' hurdle at Cork over an extended three miles and he finished third in the valuable Bective Stud Handicap Hurdle at Navan over three miles and one furlong.  He has gone to a new level over fences though this season, he won the Florida Pearl Chase and he won the Ten Up Chase, both Grade 2 contest over three miles. He is versatile in terms of ground conditions, but he does appear to need a stamina test to be at his best and, as such, he will be of interest wherever he gets that next. He is in the Irish Grand National and Aintree Grand National, and he could be a big player in either.
