Believe In Glory

Believe In Glory put up a nice performance in finishing fifth in the nursery at The Curragh last Saturday in her first-time tongue-tie. Weak in the market beforehand on this, her first handicap, she was a little awkward at the start, but she was settled nicely at the back of the near-side group by Chris Hayes. Unlike the juveniles' race run a half an hour earlier over the same course and distance, it was the far-side group who had the advantage here from early, and the two horses who occupied the first two places in that group through the early stages of the race, Sir Alfie and Raphello, finished first and third. Believe In Glory was last of the near-side group and last overall at half-way but, switched towards the far side, she picked up well, she made progress towards the leaders, and she kept on to finish fifth in the end, just three and a half lengths behind the winner.

This was the Invincible Army filly's first handicap, and she should be able to build on this now. Out of a half-sister to Royal Razalma, who won the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes over five furlongs on soft ground as a juvenile, Ken Condon's filly finished second in a five-furlong maiden at Hamilton at the end of June behind Wor Faayth, who won a listed race in France next time. The handicapper dropped her by 1lb for this run to a mark of 60, and she will be of interest now in another nursery now off that mark. She should be fine too if and when the ground softens. She holds an entry in the nursery at Navan this Thursday, and she will be of interest if she lines up in that.
